A memorial tattoo idea can begin with a gesture you recognize: the angle of an ear, a curled sleeping shape or the way your cat sat waiting for you. Choose that memory before choosing decoration.

The three concept drawings are AI-generated starting concepts. They are not traced from your cat, tested on skin or offered as finished tattoo stencils. A tattoo artist should adapt a design to the intended placement and scale.

Three refined ink cat concepts: an upward profile, sleeping curl and seated pose.

A familiar profile

A side view can preserve the slope of the nose, the chin and the ear outline. Bring a clear reference with that angle. Tell the artist which small feature is meaningful, then ask what can remain readable at the proposed size.

If the only available photograph is front-facing, do not assume a side view can be reconstructed accurately. Another composition may honor the cat more faithfully than an invented profile.

A resting curl

A compact sleeping shape expresses a routine without requiring a detailed face. It can leave room for an empty center or a simple opening between tail and body. In our drawing, the curl is deliberately broad; it is an idea to discuss, not a prescription for line thickness.

Choose this direction if the memory is the shape of your cat in a favorite place. Keep a photograph of that pose beside any stylized sketch so the artist can understand what you want to retain.

A seated outline

A seated shape gives the ears, chest and tail distinct roles. You might ask the artist to include an uneven ear or a characteristic tail curve. Avoid adding every marking simply because it is visible in the reference; decide which one or two details carry recognition.

The sample is generic. For a personal memorial, the useful work is in adapting its proportions to your own reference.

Write a brief for the consultation

Download the artist brief. Include your chosen memory, authorized photographs, preferred direction, possible placement and any text. Mark which details are essential and which are open to the artist's judgment.

Ask the artist about suitability at the proposed size and ask to see relevant healed work. We have not tested these concepts as tattoos and make no claims about healing, durability or how fine a line should be. Leave application and aftercare guidance to the practitioner; this worksheet is for communicating the design.

You can take time with the decision. Keeping the sketch or printing it as a small card is also a valid way to hold the memory while you decide whether a tattoo is right for you.
